A. Brief Information


When hearing “Wonosobo,” a great number of people will be reminded of Mie Ongklok and Dieng Plateau. Actually, besides those two things, Wonosobo also has a tea plantation, which is often called Tambi Agro tourism. Tambi Agro tourism is the right choice for those who love escapade tour, or those who want to simply disappear from urban tumult, and to feel the fresh air around mountainous area.

Tambi Agro Tourism is a tea plantation area of 829,14 ha, which is directly controlled by PT Tambi, a company that deal with plantation and tea production. Formerly, at the Dutch colonial era (1885 A.D.), Tambi estate company was a Dutch-owned company named Bagelan Thee & kina Maatschappij with a base in the Netherlands. The Indonesian branch was managed by NV John Peet, with a base in Jakarta. When the freedom revolution of Indonesia exploded, the company was taken over by the Republic Indonesia Government. Its workers were then appointed as civil servants. After the round table conference in 1949, the company was returned back to the previous owner. Then, in 1954 the company was sold by the owner to NV Ex PPN Sindoro Sumbing, a company built by the Ex-Employees of Government‘s Estate. In 1957, NV Ex PPN Sindoro Sumbing established cooperation with the Local Government of Wonosobo to build a new company named NV Tambi. Its present name is PT. Perkebunan Tambi (www.agris-tambi.com)

Tambi Tea Plantation site stretches on the slope of Mount Sindoro. Geographically, this agro tourism site is situated at an altitude of 800 - 2,000 meters above the sea level with the rainfall average of about 2.500-3.000 mm/year. The average lowest temperature is about 15°C and the highest temperature might reach 24°C. For such natures, the place offers you slightly mild weather, and it will make you comfortable to be here for along.

B. Distinctive Feature

The major activity here is walking around the tea plantation. The place has three tea walk routes; there are short route (1-2 km), middle route (2-3 km), and long route (3-9 km). Here, you can release the tension of your daily activity. Green carpet that spread out on the mountain slope, the breezy of wind, and the mild climate will make you fresh and relax. If lucky, you will meet some tea pickers who are smiling and warm.

Wanting some more? So you can have another activity offered by Tambi Agro-tourism management. You will be taught how to choose and pick the tea leave from the trunk. Indeed, the art of picking the tea leave has special rules and methods. So, if you make a mistake in picking a leaf, do not ever wish to consume an aromatic and tasteful tea.

Tea walk and watching the process of tea picking probably had been offered by other agro tourism. Tambi Agro tourism offers something different, which is called factory tour program. In this program, tourists are guided to see the process of black tea production. Starting with tea-picking, the tour continues with observation on the tea production. At this stage, you may observe the processes how a tealeaf is processed into a cup of hot black tea with special fragrance that you can drink in the available gazebos.

C. Location

Tambi Tea Plantation lies precisely at the west slope of Sindoro & Sumbing Mountains, 16 km north of Wonosobo. It is administratively located at Tambi Village, Kejajar Sub-district, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia

D. Access

Located along the main road of Wonosobo-Dieng, Tambi Tea Plantation is accessible for you who want to have a leisure there. Tourists who want to visit this plantation can start their travel from Wonosobo. To reach Wonosobo City you can use two routes. For those who depart from Eastwards, you can take Temanggung-Wonosobo route because you might see the enchanting scenery of sindoro-Sumbing and Kledung. When you depart from Southwards, you should pass Banjarnegara-Wonosobo route. You will see the green rice fields spread as long as your view. Likewise, the water of the Serayu River flows along the stream to the sea. The river, indeed, might lure you to have adventurous activity through wading the stream.

To reach Tambi Agro tourism, you only need about 20 minutes from Wonosobo City. If you use public transport, you will spend more. If so, you can take microbus Wonosobo-Dieng, and then you descend in Tambi village and continue your travel by foot. The plantation is only 200 meter from Main Street.

E. Ticket Price

To enjoy the coziness of tea walk and watching the process of tea production in the factory, you should come in a group, and a group should consist of 10 people in minimum. Each person should pay IDR 20.000, but, if you want to get lunch, you should add IDR 20.000. For group who want to participate in outbound activity, they should pay IDR 80.000 per person. The number of person in a batch minimal should 20 people (July 2009).

F. Accommodation and other Facility

Tambi plantation area is completed by several supporting facilities. The available facilities are restaurants, souvenir shops, security posts, outbound areas, campfire grounds, tennis yards, fishponds, and playground areas.

If you want to spend more nights here, a comfortable homestay is available with both good facilities and green scenery around, with the views of the hills at afar. The homestay rates range from IDR 225,000/night, to the most expensive one of around IDR 1.25 million (July, 2008). For note, there is likewise a meeting hall here so you can have a business meeting amidst the enchanting green scenery of Tambi Tea Plantation.

A. Brief Information

Colo Tourism Area is located on Muria Mountains, which is 1.602 m above the sea level, and is a plateau consists of several mounts and hills, such as Mount Argo Jembangan, Mount Argo Ploso, Mount Rahtawu, Pasar Hill, and Ringgit Hill.

The name of Colo is taken from the name of a village on the peak of Mount Muria. According to the story spread, the name was given by Sunan Muria. Colo has several tourism objects, which generally can be categorized into two: religious tourism and natural tourism.


B. Distinctive Features

Beside the freshness of the air, Colo offers you many interesting tourism objects. The first one is the grave of Sunan Muria (Syekh R. Umar Said, one of the famous Wali Songo), which is located inside the Mosque of Sunan Muria, on the peak of Mount Muria. You can reach the mosque and the grave on foot, climbing through 700 stairs started from the gate near the parking area. The grave and the mosque are two of the religious tourism interests in Kudus, beside the well-known Menara Kudus. People from various places come to those religious areas to make a devotional visit, especially on the Buka Luwur event, which is held annually in the month of Muharram (Islamic calendar), in which the fabric used to cover the grave is replaced. People come to get a piece of the old cover, which they believe can give them fortune.

The next interesting spot is the Monthel Waterfall. The waterfall is about 25 m in height. You can reach it by walking for 30 minutes through a path, crossing coffee plantation. Along your way, you will hear the natural harmony of wild birds` sound. The closer you are to the waterfall, the clearer the sound of water flowing from the upper of the slope. You can feel the freshness of the water and the beautiful panorama around the waterfall.

The third interesting spot is the ecotourism area of Rejenu, which is 1.150 m above the sea level. It is located on Mount Argo Jembangan, about 3km from the grave of Sunan Muria. In this area, you can enjoy the various vegetations and the freshness of the air. This area has three main interests, those are:
• Syekh Sadzali`s grave, he was - according to the people around - the beloved santri (student) of Sunan Muria. He helped Sunan Muria to spread Islam around the area and was a loyal follower.
• Tiga Rasa Water Spring, which has three different tastes of water, i.e. plain-sour, which is believed for its healing power, the one tastes like soda, which is believed for its power to increase confidence, and the last tastes like alcoholic drinks which is believed for the power to increase wealth.
• Gonggomino Waterfall, which you can reach by tracking along the river in Rejenu area.
The last object in Colo is the camping ground area and conservation forest of Kajar. It is located in the area of pine forest, 3 km to the south of the grave of Sunan Muria. The camping ground area is approximately 600 m above the sea level and is a perfect place to camp and do outward bound.

C. Location

Colo Tourism Area is 18 km in distance from the Kudus Plaza. It is located on Muria Mountains, Colo village, in the sub-district of Dawe, Kudus Regency, Central Java, Indonesia.

D. Access

Although its location on the peak of a mount, it will be easy for you to reach the area. From Semarang, you must take the bus to Kudus. From the bus station in Kudus, take a car to Colo. You only have to pay IDR5.000 to reach the area (April 2008).

E. Ticket Price

The price to enjoy the whole package of the tourism area is very cheap, which is IDR2.500 (April 2008).

F. Accommodation and Other Facilities

This tourism area has a hotel called Graha Muria, which is facilitated with swimming pool, meeting hall, large parking area, mosque, and good service. There are also lodges, which offer you cheaper prices. Many food courts in this area will serve you the special culinary of Colo that are Nasi Pecel Pakis, roasted chicken, and Parijoto fruit. You can also get a special craft from the souvenir counters, such as hand-made carved stick and special wood to repel rats. On the surface of the wood, there is natural batik like patterns, which are very beautiful.

A. Brief Information

Borobudur Temple is one of the most prestigious historical properties that can be found in Indonesia. It is noted as one of the World Wonder Heritage by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The existence of Borobudur was discovered by General Governor Sir Thomas Raffles around 800 A.D., after being buried for a long time following the eruption of Merapi Volcano. It is said that the temple was built at the era of King Syailendra in the eight century. “Borobudur” is derived from “bara” / “vihara” that means “temple;” and “budur” or “beduhur” that means “above” or “hill.”


This 34.5-meter-high
monument comprises 10 layers, which the lower six are square and the upper three layers are circular. Reliefs on the wall are counted about 1460, while the Buddha statues are about 504 and 72 stupas. Just take a bird-eye view, thus the temple is almost like a lotus.

B. Brief Information

Discover the ancient stories, which mostly are influenced by Buddhism like Ramayana and Mahabharata,

Borobudur Temple lies at Borobudur Village, Borobudur Sub-district, in the district of Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia.

D. Access


Borobudur is located about 100 kilometers away from Semarang, and 40 kilometers from Yogyakarta. You can take any bus as well as public transport serving Semarang-Yogyakarta route leading to Magelang bus station. It will take approximately three hours. To be in the temple complex, you must succeed the trip from Magelang bus station by taking minibuses with IDR 5000 for its cost (per April 2008).
From Yogyakarta, it will take around an hour land trip to Borobudur Temple. To touch the temple, you must take a walk from parking area, spending about 15 minutes.

E. Ticket Price

The entrance ticket prices for domestic tourists are IDR 9000 (adult) and IDR 5000 (children). For foreign tourists, they must pay IDR 99000 (adult) and IDR 54000 (children).

F. Accommodation and other Facilities
