Mount Tangkuban Parahu is one of the volcanoes are still active on the island of Java. It has the largest crater named Queen Crater followed Upas Crater that is located adjacent to each other. Queen Crater itself into one of the main objects of Mount Tangkuban Parahu. Size and depth of this crater is amazing with crater’s wall that resembles a large bowl.

With a height of 1820 meters at the location above sea level, Mount Tangkuban Parahu has cold air throughout the day with fog, especially in the rainy season. Forests in the valley east and north into the top is a very beautiful panorama and different from other places.

Mount Tangkuban Parahu name itself comes from the sundanese Tangkuban means reversed and Parahu means Boat. So Tangkuban Parahu means boat upside down, meaning that if the mountain is seen from the city of Bandung it will look like a boat overturned. The form is similar to the boat upside down is what made the story of the famous legend Sangkuriang today. Legend has it that attempts Sangkuriang marry his own mother, named Dayang Sumbi. The mother who finally knows Sangkuriang is his son and refused Sangkuriang married her. Dayang Sumbi also asked made lake and the boat overnight. Long story short, Sangkuriang efforts made lake and the boat failed, then the anger kicked up to the boat upside down and turned into Tangkuban Parahu.

Besides natural panorama and craters, in tourist areas of Mount Tangkuban Parahu too many traders and stalls selling food and beverages as well as a unique souvenir. Food is typical in Mount Tangkuban Parahu is Ulen (sticky rice) which was burned and spread with peanut sauce. Spicy taste of peanut flavor plus heat after burning makes Ulen provides its own pleasures. Souvenirs are sold in this region is very diverse and unique, ranging from clothes, plants (bonsai and cactus) to crafts such as ornaments Kujang and Natural Stone.

Mont Tangkuban Parahu tourism object can be taken 30 km from Bandung to Lembang. When you arrived at Lembang, continue your journey toward the direction of Subang. There are two entrances to the Tangkuban Parahu, first entrance in Subang area and second entrance are in Cikole (West Bandung Regency). Recommended in through the first entrance because the condition road to the Queen Crater better than the second entrance . From here the journey continues as far as approximately 4 km to the main object of the Queen Crater.
