A. Brief Information
Jembatan Aka is inferred has been growing up for more than a hundred years. It is a natural phenomenon where the roots of two kubang trees (Ficus sp) are plaited each other. Kubang tree is a clump of trees that grows around riverside.
Starting from the eagerness of unifying two villages separated by a river, a Muslim scholar namely Pakih Sokan designed a root bridge crossing over the river. It spent approximately 26 years so that the root bridge was able to be used as the bridge in common. It was firstly designed in 1896 A.D. but, it could be used in 1916 A.D.
B. Distinctive Features
This 25 meters long of root bridge is longer than two other root bridges in Japan and in West Java. It grows stronger as the years go by. Connecting two villages crossing over the river is another distinctive feature of the bridge.
C. Location
It is located 88 km away south of Padang City, in the sub-district of Bayang, Pesisir Selatan District, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia.
D. Access
You can get to the location by taking any public transportation from Padang to Painan then continue to Bayang Sub-district.

A. Brief Information
Menhir is an upright stone that was functioned as the medium for conducting worhsip towards the ancestor‘s spirit by prehistoric people. It was made to respect the ancestor‘s spirit for its capability in giving tremendous influence towards the human being of prehistoric times. The existence of menhir is an evident of social value that was applied on human being in the prehistoric times.
B. Distinctive Features
When you have arrived at Mahat Village, you will experience the mystical atmosphere of the location. Here, you can see various reliefs on some menhirs having various motifs such as swords, horns, and skulls. Such motifs are arranged neatly in such a manner shaping out the human statue without the body. In the past, it was used by animism believers as the medium for conducting worship. The menhirs here are beautifully carved, hence the location is a considerable tourism destination for you who are interested in archaeological study.
C. Location
Menhir in Manhat Village is precisely located in Koto Gadang and Koto Tinggi, Mahat Village, contiguous to the edge of Suliki Sub-district and Kapur IX Sub-district, Lima Puluh Koto District, West Sumatra Province.
D. Access
To reach the location, you can take any public transportation from Padang City to Payakumbuh (the capital of Lima Puluh Koto District). It is around three hours with IDR 20.000 for the cost. The journey then is proceeded to Mahat Village for approximately 30 minutes. Furthermore, you can take car rental services for about IDR 50.000 per day.
